Present to Myself!

Hello everyone!
I am so excited to finally be starting a blog! So...here I go.
Labor Day weekend just passed and my 25th birthday was the weekend before. I tend to celebrate from my birthday (August 24) to the end of the month. As luck would have it, Raheem Devaughn was scheduled to perform in Chalotte on August 30. The perfect gift to give myself! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE music and I hate to pass up a chance to see an artist that I truly like in concert. Recently, I've missed numerous shows and I've hated myself for it each time. Lauryn Hill, Tamar Braxton and John Legend had all come and gone without me being able to see them. Talk about HEARTBROKEN! After that, I decided that if another singer who I really liked came to town I would not miss it. No matter what. Lo and behold, while searching for upcoming R&B concerts in the city, I came across the listing for Raheem performing at Amos Southend. Long story short...I WENT! I must say that I was not disappointed at all. The show was supposed to start at 9pm. I had already anticipated that it wouldn't startt on time, however, my husband did not. John Dillinger (I think) was his opening act and they did very well. After they left the stage we began to wait once again and hubby became slightly agitated. In the midst of my trying to calm him down, Raheem's DJ saved the day! After that the show took off and didnt come back down until the end! There was a painter onstage with him painting a portrait during his entire performance. I can truly say that it was worth the $75 (yikes!) we spent at the bar! Raheem Devaughn performed his biggest hits such as "Woman", "Customer" and "Guess Who Loves You More" as well as a couple of my favorites from the new album. I love his message and he also talked about his foundation Love Life DMV. He has earned a life-long fan and I will make it my business to be at any and every appearance he has in Charlotte and surrounding areas! HBD to me!

Until next time,
Mrs. Clark-Burton
